If “Valley of the Damned” was DragonForce kicking down the power-metal door, “Sonic Firestorm” is them sprinting through it at Mach 3 while leaving a trail of fire behind. This album is faster, tighter, and somehow even more ridiculous, in the best possible way.
The band doesn’t just crank the intensity; they weaponize it. Herman Li and Sam Totman’s guitars sound like twin laser cannons dueling in hyperspace, while Dave Mackintosh’s drumming basically redefines “relentless.” ZP Theart soars over the chaos with vocals that feel like they were recorded mid-dragon flight.
“Sonic Firestorm” isn’t an album, it’s a speed-metal endurance test wrapped in glittering melodies and heroic bombast. Tracks like “Fury of the Storm” and “My Spirit Will Go On” don’t ask for your attention, they ‘blast’ it into submission.
It’s overblown, turbocharged, and utterly unapologetic.
In short: DragonForce leveled up, and then set the level on fire.
